If you believe that TONO has made the wrong decision or that something has not been handled correctly, we encourage you to contact usWe will help you as best we can.  

If you have been in contact with us and still believe that the decision is wrong, you have the right to appeal.  

Who can complain? 

  • Members of TONO 
  • Other collective management organisations for which TONO manages rights 
  • Rights holders who have a legal connection to TONO's business, for example through a contractual license 

Complaints handling 

All complaints are sent in writing to medlem@tono.noComplaints will be processed within a reasonable time, normally within three weeks. You will receive a written justification when the complaint has been processed. 

Complaints about settlements, documentation and the like 

 Complaints regarding billing, documentation or an assessment made by TONO are initially handled by TONO's administration. Complaints about billing must be submitted within six weeks of receiving the billing. 

Member Affairs 

Complaints regarding admission as a voting member, exclusion or termination of membership agreement are processed by TONO's board. In the case of exclusion and termination, the complaint must be received by TONO within one month of you being notified of the decision. 

Scholarship decision 

Complaints regarding decisions from TONO's scholarship committee regarding the allocation of scholarship funds are processed by the board. The appeal deadline is three weeks from the date you received the decision. Please note that the scholarship committee's exercise of discretion cannot be appealed. 

Other complaints about administration decisions 

If the complaint concerns a decision from TONO's administration that does not fit into the categories above, it will be processed by TONO's board. If the complaint is of a legal nature, it should be sent to juridik@tono.no 

notifications 

For matters of importance that you wish to report, but which do not constitute a complaint, you can submit them through TONO's notification channel. Examples of such cases could be: 

  • Ethically irresponsible behavior 
  • Situations that pose a risk to life and health 
  • Potential danger to the climate or the environment. 
  • Cases of corruption and financial misconduct, including theft and embezzlement. 
  • Violation of laws and regulations by TONO's subcontractors
