A new generation of music creators with big ambitions

TONO's membership manager Jan Espen Storo believes these are exciting times for Norwegian music, and emphasizes that young Norwegian songwriters are making a mark both in Norwegian and international contexts. TONO gained a total of 2350 new members in 2025, most of whom are in their 20s.

– We see that there is a new generation of young music creators with great ambitions, great self-confidence, and strong professional awareness of music creation. We see it across the diversity of genres from contemporary to jazz to Sami to those who work in the commercial pop field. Many are doing well on Norwegian charts, but are also making a mark internationally within the entire genre spectrum, says TONO membership manager, Jan Espen Storo.
