This year, TONO has awarded scholarships from a scholarship pool of kr 13,950,000 for the TONO scholarship and kr 1,220,000 to Young Talents, in total kr 15,170,000. This year, the sum is distributed across a total of 802 scholarships, of which 558 are TONO scholarships and 244 are Young Talent scholarships. The scholarships are scheduled to be paid to the recipients on Wednesday, May 20, to the account numbers the applicants provided in their applications.
In its assessment of the applications, the scholarship committee has based its assessment on the criteria described on TONO.no, and which were informed about in the scholarship announcement.
The TONO scholarship
This year's TONO scholarship is being awarded at a time when many of TONO's members are affected by a loss of income. Normally, scholarships are awarded at three main levels, respectively kr 100,000 kr 50,000 and kr 25,000, but to ensure that as many TONO members as possible would receive scholarships this year, the scholarship committee decided to award all scholarships at the same level, 25,000.
After specific assessments, several applications were merged in some cases where the application projects were completely or partially the same for several applicants - a possibility that is mentioned in the grant announcement.
The committee awarded a total of 558 scholarships. kr 25 000.
Young talents
This year, a total of kr 1,220,000 for the Young Talents scholarship, of which kr 360,000 has been granted by NOPA. As with the main grant, this time it was considered appropriate to base the grant on a solidarity profile and award as many grants as possible.
The committee awarded a total of 244 scholarships. kr 5 000.
The committee consisted of Morten Lorentzen and Tonje Unstad from NOPA, Kari Beate Tandberg and Jon Øivind Næss from NKF, Kaja Gunnufsen and Ole Børud from the independents, and Steinar Fjeld from Musikkforlaggerne.
The scholarship committee's decision may be appealed to the TONO board within three weeks of notification of the decision to the applicant. The right to appeal only applies to the case processing, not the committee's discretion.
